We were excited to have Balamurugan Nallapan from CyberSecurity Malaysia shared insights on cybersecurity strategies at our Finexus MyXaaS Innovation Centre in Cyberjaya — a crucial topic for a tech-driven company like ours.
In Q2 2024, fraud made up 64% of reported incidents, followed by malicious codes (11%), according to Cyber999 Incident Response Centre of CyberSecurity Malaysia.
Top fraud incidents reported included phishing, impersonation and spoofing, fraudulent websites, job scams, bogus emails, and business email compromised scams.
For malicious codes, the top reported malware incidents relate to malicious APKs, such as shopping APK, Jemputan Majlis APK, and Shopee APK, demonstrating that no APKs should be downloaded except from the Apple Store or Google Playstore.
That is why as a financial institution, we uphold strict security standards (PCI DSS Level 1, Tier III, RMiT CTRAG) to protect our customers’ data.
We would like to extend our appreciation to Balamurugan Nallapan for also sharing cybersecurity tools like DNSwatch and DontPhishMe found in MyCERT website.
